Face of the Day: Smokey Black Eyeshadow | The Cupid Bow

smokey black eyeshadowNights out are a rarity these days due to working my little bee-hind off at my new career, but Friday night I felt like letting my long locks down and head into London taaaaahn for a few bevvys. As I have just got a new job freelancing for Laura Mercier counters, my makeup recently has followed their ‘natural’ ethos. Basically a lot of browns and neutrals which I love for in the day, but I was feeling a dramatic, probably-gone-a-bit-overboard-but-am-I-bothered? makeup look for Friday evening. So there was only one way I was gunna go really… Black. And smokey. Very very smokey!
smokey black eyeshadowThe key to this look? BLEND. Blend, blend, blend, blend, blend. The trick is to use less product than you think you need and keep orrrrrn blending that shiz until you no longer have any harsh lines. It’s very easy to use too much product, and then you end up blending it all the way up to the eyebrow as you just have too much to work with. So minimal product, and then build on it if you need to. It’s always better to start with less and then add more! Smokey black eyeshadow is a classic look and also my favourite. There are few people who it will not work on. So what do you reckon? Black or back to neutrals?
